The last sitting of the Associate Examination was held in November 2002. Entries are no longer accepted, since CFA UK now promotes the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification.

The Associate Examination was of a comparable standard to the CFA. Students were required to pass the Investment Management Certificate and the following six papers:

Part I

Economics and Applied Statistical Analysis
Securities and Investment
Interpretation of Accounts and Corporate Finance

Part II

Those who passed or were exempt from the Associate Examination were eligible to become Associate Members of IIMR as soon as they gained two years relevant professional work experience.
